Te Puke
Population: 7,150
Te Puke is known as the kiwifruit capital of the world. It is the heart of the country’s kiwifruit industry and is surrounded by orchards and packhouses. Each year Te Puke hosts an annual kiwifruit festival to celebrate the industry and its role in the town.
The warm climate and fertile soils make Te Puke a prime horticultural area, and citrus fruit and avocados also thrive.
Te Puke is close to three surf beaches and there are many bush walks and spots to picnic and swim. The town centre has a variety of boutique shops and cafés.
